JOHN 15

Pray:  Spend time praying as a family.  Ask that He help your family abide in Him and the Word during this time.

Missions prayer:  Pray for Sara Beth that she would abide in Christ and submit to Him.

Read John 15:5-11

Ask:

1. What kind of fruit is Jesus talking about in these verses? Is He saying we should have bananas, oranges, mangoes, or lemons growing on our bodies? (Jesus is referring to having the fruits of the spirit as described in Galatians 5:22,23 love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.)

2. According to these verses, can we bear fruit alone? What do we need? (Jesus)

3. What can we do apart from Jesus? (Nothing.)

JOHN 14

Pray:  Spend some time praying as a family.  Thank God for sending his Son Jesus as our Savior.  Ask that others who do not know the way would find the one and only way to Salvation.

Missions prayer:  Recently a group in Clarkston picked up all the completed back packs for foster kids. So, those will be distributed soon, pray for the kids and families receiving them, that God would use the packs to draw people to Himself and that they might believe on Him for eternal life.

Read John 14:1-14

Ask:

 1. Where did Jesus say He was going? (To His Father's house to prepare a place for His disciples.)
2. Why is Jesus coming back after He goes to prepare a place for us? (To take us to be with Him.)
3. Thomas asked how they could know the way to heaven.  What was Jesus’ response?  (I am the way, the truth, and the life).

4.  Did Jesus say he was the only way to heaven? (Yes, “No one comes to the Father except through me”).

JOHN 13

Pray:  Spend some time praying as a family.  Ask God to help open your eyes to how you might serve others and help meet the needs of those around you.

Missions prayer:  Pray for missionaries as they face discrimination due to COVID-19.  Some of our missionaries live among people who believe that all westerners have the virus and can give it to them.  Out of fear they seek to slander or physically injure the missionary.  Pray for their protection.  Pray against the spread of false information.

Ask:

1. What did Jesus do that the disciples did not expect? (He washed their feet.)
2. Do we have to wash people’s feet??!! (No, Jesus was using the actions of servants to teach his followers a lesson).
3. Why did Jesus choose to wash the disciples feet? (To teach them about humility and serving others.)

Pray:   Spend some time in prayer as a family.  Praise God for all he has done for you and worship through prayer together.

Missions prayer: Pray for Sara to be diligent as she begins to learn a new language. Pray for the Holy Spirit to give her ability to communicate the gospel in her new language.

Ask:

. What did Mary do with perfume? (Poured it on Jesus' feet.)
2. Why did she do this? (Allow for discussion.  Besides her deep love for Jesus, Mary may have seen that Jesus' feet were still dirty, and not being in a position to take water and a towel, she chose to use her treasured ointment to wash them, and then dry His feet with her hair.)
3. After Mary anointed Jesus, what changed inside the house? (The fragrance filled the house.)
4. Who was upset the most because of what Mary did? (Judas)
5. If you were at this dinner, how could you have showed your love for Jesus? (Allow for discussion.)

Missions prayer: Monel ask we pray for Haiti’s protection from the virus. The country has no medical personnel or equipment that could treat patients. He said for Haiti they would need a miracle.

Ask:

1. When Jesus got word that Lazarus was about to die, did He immediately return to Judea? (No, He stayed where He was for two more days.)
2. Why didn't Jesus rush back to help His friend, Lazarus, who was about to die? (Jesus knew He had the power over life and death. Jesus would use this opportunity to glorify God and Himself.)
3. How long had Lazarus been dead by the time Jesus and His disciples arrived? (Four days.)
4. Who did Jesus tell Martha He was? (Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life.")
5. What did Jesus promise to all who believe in Him? (That they will live even though they die; and whoever lives and believes in Him will never die.)

JOHN 10

Pray:   Spend some time praying as a family.  During this time thank God for salvation in Christ and that he died so that we might have eternal life.

Missions prayer: Two weeks ago the Petersons (who were serving in another country) unexpectedly closed up their house and took the long journey back to the US.  Their medical advisors strongly advised that they relocate in light of the pandemic (because of pre–existing medical conditions).  Pray for their family as they settle in here and look for ways to serve the community while following recommended guidelines.

2.      When Jesus said he was the door, he said if anyone enters by him they will be what? (saved)

3.      When Jesus said he was the good shepherd what did he say he would do for his sheep?  (lay down his life or die)

4.      Why do you think Jesus called himself the good shepherd?  (because he would die for us, so that we might be saved)

Pray:   Spend some time praying as a family.  During this time ask that God use the events of our day that the works of God might be displayed for the world to see.

Missions prayer: Pray for the people of Clarkston to understand and take the warnings seriously so that the virus does not spread too bad.

Ask:

1.       Was the blind man always blind? (Yes, since birth.)

2.       How did the disciples judge the blind man? (They thought he was blind due to his or his parents' sins.)

3.      How did Jesus respond to the disciples' judgmental question? (The man was born blind so that the works of God might be displayed in him.)

4.      How did Jesus heal the blind man? (Jesus healed the man by anointing the man’s eyes with mud. Jesus then told him to wash in the pool of Siloam.)

Pray:  Spend some time praying as a family.  As you pray also thank God that during this time of limits in our actions, we have freedom in Christ.
